7 Replies to “Saying Goodbye”

  1. Jonathan,
My family and I are right there with you guys and praying for your healing. Our faithful old Alex. who was with us for 17 years…raising our 3 children, with us through every ministry move, went from trampoline jumper to bad hip and barely walking…had to go to be with the Lord on May 28, 2010, Friday of Memorial weekend. This faithful family member guarded, loved, and served our family without fail, and even developed a lot of great friend through our youth programs. His Facebook page can be seen at https://www.facebook.com/mydogAl?ref=ts and is still active with friends.
It is good that we grieve our friends like this, because, especially dogs, remind us of how tenacious God’s love is for us. Like the Father, dogs are always glad to see you, don’t care how long you’ve been gone, but are elated to a frenzy that you’ve come back, worry less about the past and future and focus on the here and now, and always…ALWAYS…greet us with arms wide open (or tongues licking for our four-legged friends).
A picture of Alex sits on our kitchen sink so that each time we look out the window to the back yard, we are reminded of our close friend and family member.
We did get 2 Augies (Toy Australian Shepherd/Corgi mix) the weekend after Alex went home and they will never replace him…but they are a blessing from God with the attitude, companionship, and fun they have brought us.
We continue to pray for each of you in your time of grief…

    Blessings

  2. We are so sorry to hear of your loss of Jethro. We have always had family members (that happened to be pets), and have loved them just like they were people. They bring so much love and joy into our lives during the short time that they are with us. If only we could learn to love unconditionally as they do. (Hmmmm, sounds like a good lesson on the love of Christ, dedicated to Jethro’s memory). I’m new to your blog, and had to go back and read last months’ post. I shed more than one tear while reading it. I, for one, like to believe that our animals will be with us in Heaven. Seems like it just wouldn’t be as perfect without them. At any rate, God loves all his creation, including our loving furry family.

  3. Been thinking alot about Jethro and how he was doing. So sorry for your loss. Prayers going out to you and your family. God Bless.

  4. You have been an inspiration every week with the emails. I’m sorry to hear about Jethro. Thank you for all you are doing in the Kingdom. Can’t wait to meet you one day; either on earth or in heaven. Thank you again.
